Linked Life

My GMTK Jam 2021 submission. (SOLO). I will continue working on this after the jam because I have some ideas to make the combat better (and also its fun).

The WEBGL game has delayed audio, I recommend downloading the EXE if you care about sound. (The delay is only like 0.27 seconds)

Linked Life is a 2D platformer where the player's and enemies health are linked.

In Linked Life, your own health and the health of the enemies you fight are linked. The first time you hit an enemy, the health of the enemy is set to the health of the player (minus one because you just damaged them). The way to gain health is similar. Each time you kill an enemy, a heart will spawn. Collect the heart to gain health, however, if you don't collect the heart, upon completion of the level, you will gain points.

To complete a level you must collect all of the keys. Once all but one key is collected, the last key will turn into a gate, enter through the gate to enter the next level. There are currently 5 levels, and level 5's layout is still when I was using the old lock-and-key system, however that will get changed in a update soon.

Art will also get changed in an update soon, I'm going to go for a space vibe I think.

I did NOT make any of the sprites or the music. The sprites are all from kenney.nl, and the music is from Jonas Tyroller's Wowie Resource Pack. The only thing that I did was choose what sprites and music to use.

I made this solo using the Godot engine, the only thing that I had originally planned was that the player's health and the enemies health were linked. That is how the game fits the theme.

CONTROLS:

ASD/ARROW KEYS to move

SPACE/W/UP ARROW to jump

I'm sure that there are more that Godot has by default.
